Q&A with Shraddha Chaugule of Astro Health Inc

Founder & CEO

Luminary Series:

Astro Health is the world’s first company with an AI-enabled multi-agentic clinically validated digital health treatment delivery platform for substance use disorder and longevity.

With over 40 million people with substance use disorder in the U.S., only 2.7 million people receive treatment, with 82% of prescribers concentrated in urban areas. Of those receiving treatment, a third discontinue, leading to relapses, ER visits, and hospitalizations, resulting in $500 billion in healthcare costs to the U.S. economy. The highly intelligent Astro X platform supports patients in real time and prevents relapses by utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs) and multi-modal data intelligence. The AI system’s adaptive framework utilizes generative AI to evolve alongside the user’s needs, offering real-time patient monitoring and feedback, thus removing significant administrative burden from the healthcare system. This is the only AI system in the world with high credibility and both clinical and engineering validation. The system’s 360 degree model includes human-in-the- loop on-demand psychiatrists, licensed therapists, and health advocates to ensure timely care. Empirical validation of the platform with data from 4,000 individuals demonstrates approximately 90% validation accuracy, thus positioning it as a significant integrated treatment delivery platform application for stress and substance use disorder. A clinical pilot program has been initiated at the Los Angeles General Medical Center for platform validation in human subjects.

The company’s second AI platform will address the problem of caregiving for people living with dementia and Parkinson’s, which is an approximately $230 billion a year problem in the U.S., arising because of changes in functioning in patients that impact the ability to look after oneself, and can lead to increased anxiety-and-loss of confidence. To address this problem and its economic impact, this novel integrated AI digital healthcare support system will help improve and relearn neuropsychological and functional skills related to language, information processing, mental health status, visuospatial skills, and mobility, improving quality of life for people living with dementia. The platform’s beta model was developed in Sportstech, and Astro Health is currently raising funds for their patient validation study.

Join us for a private Family Office Insights Webinar to understand how Astro Health is transforming healthcare delivery and treatment outcomes with evidence-based artificial intelligence AI. This is an exclusive opportunity to hear directly from founder Dr. Shraddha Chaugule about the world’s first clinically validated multi-agentic AI digital health platform delivery system for stress, substance use disorder management, and longevity.

With proven clinical validation from the American Psychiatric Association (APA), engineering platform validation from the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), and a pilot program clinical study with the Los Angeles General Medical Center, Astro Health is positioned to transform healthcare delivery, improve outcomes for those with substance use disorder, and extend the quality of life for people with dementia.

We invite you to learn how you can support and invest in frontier healthcare innovation solving the most critical healthcare challenges. Dr. Chaugule is a recognized digital health and outcomes research expert, and has collaborated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the RAND Corporation, and the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

What are the critical healthcare challenges you are solving at Astro Health?

At Astro Health, we are focused on solving two critical healthcare problems. The first is the prevalence of substance use disorder. Of the 40 million people in the U.S. living with this disorder, only 2.7 million receive treatment. Of those, third discontinue treatment, leading to relapses and related ER visits and hospitalizations, costing the U.S. economy $500 billion a year. Along with treatment adherence, access to treatment is a significant challenge for people living in rural areas, where it takes an average of 35 miles to get to a hospital with Medicaid coverage. There is a substantial un-met need for digital health technologies and integrated digital health systems to improve adherence and treatment delivery in this space.

Second, there are 55 million people living with dementia and another 11 million living with Parkinson’s world-wide. In the U.S. alone, there are 12 million unpaid caregivers helping these individuals look after themselves and supporting basic functions like bathing and eating. This costs the U.S. economy $230 billion a year. Additionally, the current methods for assessing neurodegeneration in these individuals are archaic and based on visual assessments and paper tests. There is a need for an integrated care support system to improve functionality and extend independence in people living with dementia and Parkinson’s to improve quality of life and reduce the burden on caregivers.

Why is Astro Health best suited to solve the problems of substance use disorder and longevity?

At Astro Health, our experienced technical founding team has a proven track record of deploying AI applications and access to advanced digital health technologies. Our founding AI engineer, Ian Thornell, has built and released AI applications using spatial body mapping and reinforcement learning to improve functionality. Our team has cross-domain expertise in clinical outcomes research, machine learning, autonomous AI systems, and digital health market access (including Medicaid and, health systems in the UK, Canada, Australia, and more), with high scientific credibility through peer-reviewed publications, including the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), and strong academic research partnerships.

Our platform is the world’s first multi-agentic AI digital health system with clinical validation from the APA and data architecture validation from IEEE. Our system has achieved approximately 90% accuracy in initial evaluations. Leveraging this work, we able to secured a partnership with the Los Angeles General Medical Center for a clinical study to validate the platform in real-world settings. We now have tentative IRB approval for this study and are seeking funding to support it. We also have the first mover’s advantage.

What is your value proposition for investors?

We have a clear competitive IP moat confirming technical strength and strong differentiation, with proprietary multi-modal data integration, Large Language Models (LLMs), and human- in-the- loop design, making our technology unique. We are the only AI digital health platform for substance use disorder and longevity with scientific validation from the APA and engineering validation from IEEE. We have also gained significant traction with a tentative IRB approval for the world’s first real-world platform validation clinical study at the Los Angeles General Medical Center.

Our strong technical founding team combines deep technical expertise with a proven track record of building and deploying AI applications, generating clinical outcomes research validation for accelerated access to health systems, insurance companies, and universal country-level payers. Strong clinical and academic partnerships position us to bring this powerful platform to patients to improve outcomes in substance use disorder, and dementia, and & Parkinson’s.
