Why has innovation become increasingly important?

Innovation is accelerating across many areas of the economy, causing new products and services to diffuse through society faster and disrupt businesses at a greater pace. Research has shown that the most innovative companies outperform, creating interest in a new factor: Innovation. We believe that investors should consider their allocation to this new innovation factor as an important component of their portfolios.

What are the benefits of investing in innovation as an asset class?

We believe innovation has been the best performing factor over the past decade. All else equal, it also may reduce portfolio risk given its lower correlation to other styles and factors including growth.

Why is Alger best positioned to be able to identify and capitalize on the theme of innovation?

As a pioneer of growth equity investing, Alger has been on the leading edge of innovation for over half of a century. We believe that our time-tested philosophy, robust process and deep research team skilled in proprietary analysis will allow us to correctly identify winners and losers of innovation.
