You're starting a venture fund around this? Tell me about that.
My partner and I are raising a $120 million venture fund. His first fund was in AR, VR, and blockchain, and has done very well.
Won't you just be creating companies that Meta and Google and Microsoft will just buy?
We want to create an exit vehicle as well, so we can take many Metaverse companies public and keep the portfolio independent. Sort of like a Metaverse ETF that can acquire private companies. But that will be 4-5 years down the road.
Do you really think it's possible to create something that is open and democratic, when so many big companies are trying to get ahead in this space?
It's happened many times before, and even Mark Zuckerberg has said they are only building part of it. I think it's a matter of adoption of open standards, and we are going to push hard for that. I believe the open competitive marketplace for personal digital assistants is critical to our economy and the future - without that, our vendors will own all our data and take full advantage of it. I want to live in a consumer-pull world, not a vendor-push one.
