As a former MMA champion and now a sports entrepreneur, how has your background in professional sports influenced your approach to building Champion Venture Partners (CVP)?

Shockingly, professional athletes are almost always left out of the room regarding sports ventures. There’s a very real perception that athletes are just dumb jocks. In reality, unparalleled drive and dedication make every athlete, myself included, a champion in their sport. And those two things will make you very successful in anything you set out to do. That’s the approach we’re using to build CVP: Drive, dedication, and teamwork.

With your leadership in scaling ventures to over $500 million in valuation, what strategies have you found most effective in driving growth within sports technology and emerging leagues?

There are many factors, but the biggest is product market fit. If you validate the need, validate the concepts, and build a cult following base, you can monetize and scale anything.

CVP has a mission of making alternative assets accessible to all. How do partnerships like the one with Sweater Inc. play a role in achieving this vision of democratizing investments in the sports ecosystem?

To truly democratize alternative investments, we need to ensure access for retail investors—the people paying billions of dollars into the sports ecosystem without seeing any returns. The team at Sweater are industry-renowned experts in this space, so for us to be the best, it only makes sense to partner with them and work towards our goal of “alts for all.”
