Who is Atalanta Sosnoff and how long have they been managing high net worth and family assets?

Atalanta Sosnoff was founded in 1981 by Martin Sosnoff. From its inception, Atalanta Sosnoff was designed to manage the investments of high net worth individuals, institutions, endowments, foundations and family offices. Our experience has nearly four decades of success and we continue to manage clients who started with us in the 1980s. With over $6 billion in assets under management, Atalanta specializes in ACTIVE large cap equity and investment grade fixed income asset management with the ability to provide any customized blend of those products. The Firm has consistently managed their clients' assets by specializing in the two products and putting all of their research focus, attention and experience to the successful management of these investment strategies.

Please describe the Atalanta Sosnoff Equity and Fixed Income process and philosophy in managing client assets?

Our equity process, known as earnings acceleration, seeks to identify securities entering a period of change where we expect the change to result in an uptick in its earnings rate. The changes we look for come from new products, enhancements in technologies and innovations, significant changes in company management and personnel, changing dynamics within an industry or the way the company is positioning itself within its industry group. We perform our own internal research and are willing to be early so that we can take advantage of anticipated earnings improvement before it is priced into the security. This philosophy allows us to avoid investing in securities with little to no upside in their earnings growth. This discipline also keeps us in sectors and industries of the market that are enjoying bottom and top line growth and are potentially returning shareholder value at a faster pace than the market. This active strategy is called CORE as it has a blend of Growth and Value Stocks that hold a similar thesis of earnings acceleration. Our goal is to position investor capital in the “sweet” spot of the market and do well in many market environments, whether or not Growth or Value styles are in favor. We have significant client assets invested in fixed income securities and feel that this strategy is also well suited for high net worth and family offices. Our fixed income philosophy is concentrated on coupon over price, which over time provides nearly all of the value in fixed income investing. We create a portfolio that includes high quality, very liquid US listed fixed income securities that has provided outsized returns over its benchmarks for decades. Our intensive equity research compliments our fixed income research process and is additive to our fixed income security selection process.

Tell us about the equity owners and key members of the Investment Team? Are their investment goals aligned with your clients?

The three equity Portfolio Managers manage the equity portfolios as a team and have been working together almost 20 years. The Chief Investment Officer, Craig Steinberg has been with the firm since 1985 and spent those years mastering his skills alongside Martin Sosnoff, the firm’s founder. Bob Ruland and Jack McMullan, Portfolio Managers, have been with Atalanta for almost 20 years and work in tandem with Craig on the equity product. Therefore client performance and their success is directly tied to the executives success. Our senior executives manage their individual net worth utilizing the same securities as they manage for our clients. Additionally, the Company’s profit sharing plan is invested in the same product and portfolio that we offer to our clients. We believe you should want your advisor to put their own money where their mouths are!
