When did it all begin?
Several years ago a Special Operations helicopter pilot named Jaden was deployed 8,000 miles from home when his mom suffered a heart attack. Suddenly, he had to coordinate support from half a world away. A few years later he was attending business school at UCSD Rady School of Business where he met Clay. Clay was diagnosed with cancer and beat it, only for it to return a few years later.
This time his cancer was diagnosed as terminal, and it was only through coordination of his support network that they were able to identify a clinical trial that saved his life. Hearing each other’s stories of the costs of trying to coordinate support, and the benefits of doing it well, inspired Clay and Jaden to create Family Proud to solve this problem once and for all for families everywhere.
Jaden went on to become our CEO, leading the charge to build our team to solve
the problem. Clay is a valued member of our board and an active leader in inspiring
and motivating our team to stay focused on the big picture of what we’re trying to
achieve.
What Do We Do?
Family Proud has built a technology platform that makes it simple for anyone
to give and receive support, anytime, anywhere. Unlike web-based page
creators, Family Proud creates continuous loops of engagement in a persistent
dynamic digital community. The value of the Family Proud platform is built on

Where are we headed?
We intentionally created our technology platform so that the more it’s used by families and their support networks, the more valuable it becomes. We are deeply committed to the personal privacy of the families on our platform and to safeguarding that commitment by never selling personal data to advertisers.
The information we learn from how families use our platform is still valuable, however. We plan to use the information we learn to effectively leverage the power of community to ensure no family need goes unmet.
As social media evolves into a tool that amplifies our natural desire to support and care for one another, technology can become a force for good in reinforcing the best in human nature. Family Proud is committed to leading the way toward making this future a reality.
Jaden Risner of Family Proud
Jaden Risner- Jaden is the CEO and Co-Founder of Family Proud. He is experienced in the startup and venture ecosystem. Having spent 12 years of active duty as a helicopter pilot in support of Special Operations and seven deployments, Jaden has direct experience helping connect service members and their families to the resources critical for their care. An informal caregiver himself, Family Proud was created based on his own personal experience and desire to impact the families of fellow servicemembers. Jaden holds a B.S. Political Science, U.S. Naval Academy ‘07, MBA, UCSD Rady School of Management ‘19.
