Q&A with Jean-Marc O’Brien of Ardour Capital

Principal Series:

A great way to help save lives and reopen the US economy at the same time!

I have been involved with Sustainability and Clean Tech now for about 15 years. But when this pandemic hit I had to do my part and so this is completely pro bono on my part. My son has asthma and given my close connection with Mount Sinai ,where he is treated, I thought a great way to help fight Covid-19 is to find $5MM of funding for the work the Precision Immunology Institute at Mount Sinai in NYC is doing to find a treatment for Covid-19 in anticipation of a vaccine.

I am writing to you on behalf of Dr. Miriam Merad, renowned immunologist and director of Mount Sinai’s Precision Immunology Institute. Dr. Merad and her team are intensely working in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis at the US epicenter. I am reaching out in hopes of enlisting your support of a project with enormous promise and real-time impact.

We currently lack treatment for the overwhelming number of severe cases of COVID-19 occurring across the globe every day. Patients are dying of excess inflammation, and immunotherapy is required to save their lives. Dr. Merad is working to identify and block the immunological factors that cause death among people with severe COVID-19 in part with drugs already well known and FDA approved. The outcomes of this research will have an immediate impact in and beyond New York. Based on their discoveries, Dr. Merad and her team will develop a four-hour test to predict the severity of COVID-19 disease and identify drugs to treat our sickest patients. Here is a press release on the entire program ( Mount Sinai Developing an “End-to-End” Diagnostics Solution for COVID-19 That Incorporates Diagnosis, Treatment Selection, and Monitoring of Disease Course)
